The Norwood Young Story

Norwood Young is an American  Grammy nominated recording artist, who has also graced Hollywood, Broadway, and Las Vegas,  stages globally and is a television and music celebrity in the United States. Norwood astounds audiences all over the world with velvet yet commanding singing voice and his superb entertaining skills, whilst creating an unforgettable experience!

Norwood Young started singing at 6.

A 40 year veteran of the entertainment business, and having received a Grammy nod and various awards,  Norwood signed his first recording deal, released his first album in his early teens , and toured all over America, Germany, Europe, Asia, and Peru where fans continue to love his music.

Norwood has recorded and shared the stage with the likes of Natalie Cole,  Jenniffer Lopez, Chaka Khan, Whitney Houston, Luther Vandross, Lionel Richie & The Commodores, Phyllis Hyman, Bill Withers, Jennifer Holiday, and more!

In a star studded Hollywood ceremony, Norwood was declared “The King Of Hancock Park” which is an extremely wealthy and prestigious Los Angeles neighborhood because of becoming victorious in various legal battles to force him to move from the exclusive white neighborhood. His infamous property “Youngwood Court” will forever hold strong history in the city of Los Angeles.

Norwood grew tired of the injustices that were consistently plaguing America, and decided to leave the country permanently, and landed in Bangkok Thailand as his new home.

Upon moving to Bangkok Norwood soon realized that there was little to no representation of “black” culture in Bangkok. This especially stood out because many other cultures are celebrated via music and food. Norwood decided that he would be responsible for introducing Black American Soul Culture to South East Asia.

Within a year of Norwood moving to Bangkok he created the “Hollywood Soul” brand. The first endeavor was the bi monthly  “Hollywood Super Soul Sunday Brunch. Norwood incorporated his entertainment prowess with his love for cooking using Soul Food recipes passed down through generations and created a very successful template for what would become “Norwood Young’s Hollywood Soul Supper Club.”

According to critics, Norwood Young is considered Thailand’s number 1 performer, and has assembled the fantastic international “Hollywood Soul Band. The result of the Hollywood Soul Band is a vision based on the lack of authentic Soul music in Thailand.

Norwood Young’s Hollywood Soul Supper Club is named after his father Norwood Young Sr, and is a dream come true. It also is making history as the first entertainment venue owned by a black person in South East Asia.
